The Burton Building
Built in 1880 by The Independent Order of Odd Fellows, 635 6th Ave. is historically known as Dayton City Hall. As an ode to Burton Hazen, one of Dayton’s founding fathers, Orleans will redevelop the 14,000 SF structure into the Burton Building – a mixed use project consisting of 10 residential 1 bedroom units and 3 commercial spaces.
The history of this building is incredibly rich – from Dayton’s first City Hall to various Fraternal Lodges, the original structure, towering windows, and grand staircase remain in tact from over 130 years. The age old saying, ‘if walls could talk’ is quite literal here, signatures and notes from a by-gone era line the entrance wall – it really tells a story of the past and we want to honor that. We’re excited to add to the vibrancy of Dayton’s Main Street and restore one of it’s oldest building to it’s former glory.
Rental rates will range from $1075 to $1600.
